Recap

Just a quick progress report on how things are shaping up with HWABV.
In early November we shot the second & final weekend up in Kilkee Co. Clare. This was the only time I remembered to keep a journal (kinda) of the shoots. Quite tricky at first glance to make head nor tale of the notes I kept, but here they are:

Friday
Met cast 10:00pm
Chips in Kashmir
Listened to music on the way ending with moog cover music at arrival (Johnny Cash)
Got there, turned on heat, had a nice reuni
on and introduction to new friendly faces.

Morning
9:00am

Nolans breakfast rolls and coffee before the first scene of the weekend.

This was an outdoor scene and thankfully the weather held up despite the terrible forecast predicted ( the brunt end of hurricane Thomas )

Then we shot some indoor scenes till 4pm and broke for dinner.

Myself and Dara cooked a nice ol' vegetarian curry which was going very well till I may of put too much flour in to thicken it.

However thankfully I had naan bread to distract everyone (including myself).

We all sat together at the dinner table which was really well set by the two Ann(e)Marie McCarthys (thats right, two of them!!)

Later on we prepared to green screen the Nokia TV for a scene in the living room, all the while praying that it will work in post production.

For the green screen no expense was spared, neon green paper glued onto cardboard, and not just any old glue, Super Glue!

Shot till 2:00am, thankfully brain just about shut down once we got the last shot.

Amazing performances from Peadar and AnnMarie.

Delighted that I got to work with AnnMarie again and also to find the most eccentric bastard of a landlord, in the guise of Peadar Clancy.

In late November we shot Deborah Ostermans amazing credit sequence which is sure to look great once the film is fully edited. Deborah did an amazing job and I can't thank her enough. Can't wait to see the piece with the film.

First Weekend

Well last weekend was great. We ended up shooting the first 5 minutes of the short up in the house. Nick and Peadar were the actors involved in this one. We shot a bit with Nick on the friday night after a couple games of Frogger in Naughtons chipper (if you ever pop in, try and beat the guy who's number 1 on the scoreboard... ME!)

We got up at about 9 the following morning for the swimming scene in the Pollock Holes in Kilkee. Nick was not looking forward to it, although I've a feeling he was glad he went in, and it wasn't as bad as we all feared.

That was until I jumped in, it actually was freezing!!

We shot a driving scene on the loop head drive and later we prepared for the climax of the first 5 mins with Nick and Peadar in the house AT NIGHT!! I don't want to get into the details of what went on, but it was quite the bloody affair. We had a spooky lighting operation thanks to Phil and Dara and this really accelerated what was happening on screen. Can't wait to shoot the rest of it this weekend with the boys and gal!

Welcome

Hello. Welcome to the production blog of House With A Bay View, a college final year short that’s currently in production. I’ll be posting up anything of relevance to do with the production of the short.

The film will be primarily shot over two weekends in October & November with the posibility of a re-shoot in December, incase unforseen elements occur. I hope to have the film edited by the begining of 2011.

House With A Bay View is set around an old house in the west coast of Co. Clare where an eccentric landlord invades the privacy of his tenants.

More info on the production as the days go slowly by :)
